Middle School Student Dies, Cause Unknown
A student at Benicia Middle School died in her sleep Monday night.
Madeline Seely, 11, a Benicia Middle School sixth-grade student, died in her sleep Monday night at her home in Martinez. The cause of death has not been determined.
The Benicia Unified School District is offering grief counseling to students.
The Contra Costa County coroner confirmed the girl's death but had not determined the cause as of Wednesday afternoon.

I am praying for this family, I know what it is like to have a child pass away. This is heart breaking. My daughter went to school with Madeline. We are very sad and will be thinking about them and praying for them for a very long time.

My son was friends with Madeline, they both went to the same preschool for two years. So very sorry to hear the news and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family in their time of need. No parent should ever loose a child so young as Madeline was.
