I do wish something could be done about this. I walk 5 to 6 miles per day and I get sick ofRead Morelooking at all the plastic bags, plastic water bottles, soda cans and bottles, chip bags, coffee cups, lids, and straws. It seems to get worse year by year. I am personally OK with outlawing such temporary containers for food and drink. Maybe have everyone use permanent cups and bags clearly marked with the owner's name.

I personally pick up trash everytime I visit 24 Fitness/ Raley shopping center off Broadway andRead MoreSola no. It began before Xmas because the trash bins were overflowing with litter. To date it has improved ...contacted Raleys as well as Security Office nearby. 24Fitness helped by providing another trash can in front of their door; as well as regularly cleaning nearby. The management company has finally "cleaned the entire area" but.....

So glad to read your post!! I was so worried a couple of weeks ago, that I went out in theRead Morefield/ope n space behind our house and cut down the brush. It was VERY difficult! Than a week later someone came in and basically just churned up the dirt in a small path. It is awful, and there is no way it would stop a fire! Why can't we have the goats in all of our open spaces?
Alex Dzs June 07, 2014 at 09:02 PM
I was looking at a house that backs up to open space and saw some of those "fire breaks". Read More I can't believe that what appears to be churned ground in the midst of waist high dry grass is supposed to be an effective fire suppressant. Is there a schedule to have these spaces cleared? Seems like we are deep into fire season, and the grass is high, dry, and way overdue for mowing. Like the goat suggestion!

I've noticed the same. You can get some more local news by joining nextdoor.com . TheRead Morenextdoor.com site is especially useful for local crime and safety issues. Once you join, you can email member neighbors without having to know their email addresses. That can be very useful at times. But also, folks will sometimes post local news items, especially if that news didn't make it into the patch or into the local newspaper.

I did join the neighborhood website a few days ago. Looking forward to it providing quick info,Read Morepar ticularly emergency info.

Looks like at least someone is reading this Patch. The board was replaced.

Indeed. There were two separate places in the fence with a hole and both have been fixed orRead Morepatched . I heard that the Benicia Animal Control Officer did visit there, so good that she was able to get it taken care of.

How did those dogs get a hold of your dog to cause such a large incision like the 2 on your dog?Read MoreI'v e never seen a dog bite like that in my 5 plus years working at a vet clinic. I hope your baby is recovering well and already feeling back to normal!
Jean Walker April 30, 2014 at 01:07 PM
Alex, the our dog's skin was pulled away from the tissue beneath the skin. The veterinarian @Read MoreSolan o Pet Emergency Clinic had to perform surgery and remove the "de-vitalized" tissue and then re-connect the skin to live tissue. Then stitch up the skin itself. Today, Linus had his drain tubes removed. One more step in his recovery. Next week the stitches will be removed. We are grateful that he is doing as well as he is.

Kids often buy food items (all too often junk food items) at Raleys shopping center and a few badRead Moreap ples discard the wrappers and containers along the way to school. I'm so glad to hear about these ladies helping with the trash problem. The more trash there is, the more people stop caring about keeping the area free of trash and the worse the problem becomes. So kudos to all who help pick up trash along Southampton Road and elsewhere in Benicia. It's nice to live and walk in a clean town.

Agree! Why DO we have old headlines every day? Why bother to even have Benicia Patch? What happened Read Moreto the police report we used to get? There is absolutely nothing of value here anymore! BP reporters- where are you???
