Born February 25, 1934, Raymond Francis Jurasin passed away after a brief illness in Concord, California.
Raymond was born in Sacramento to parents Donald Donato Jurasin and Bertha May Murphy. He was raised in St. Patrick’s orphanage in Sacramento then graduated from high school in Vallejo. Raymond was trained in the Dominican Theological Seminary order, and later graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1963 with a degree in English while active in the Sanctuary Society, Pi Delta Pi, Glee Club and College Players. Raymond dedicated his professional life to making an impact in children’s lives through teaching, and was a school teacher in Willits, Mill Valley and the Benicia schools for over 30 years. His personal interests included art, acting, singing and gardening, and his talents were an inspiration to many.
Raymond is survived by his adoring adopted children Alexandra Jurasin of Thousand Oaks, Chris Jurasin of Dixon, David Jurasin of Vallejo and Stephen Jurasin of Independence, KS in addition to several grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Richard Jurasin of Manteca , and sisters Barbara Jurasin of Manteca, Charleen Holcomb of Elk Grove and Carol Jurasin of Concord.
Friends and family are invited to Vigil Services on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for him at St. Dominic’s Church in Benicia Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m., followed by a service at St. Dominic’s cemetery.
