DIGITAL BOOKMOBILE AND “GADGET GALLERY” COMING TO FAIRFIELD MAY 10

(Fairfield, CA) – May 1, 2014 – The Overdrive Digital Bookmobile National Tour (www.digitalbookmobile.com) will showcase the free ebook library services from at the Fairfield Civic Center Library, 1150 Kentucky Street, Fairfield, CA on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Readers of all ages will learn how to access ebooks from the library.  On hand will be a “Gadget Gallery” where visitors can try out various reading devices including the Kindle, Nook, SonyReader, Android Galaxy, iPhone, and more.

“The Digital Bookmobile is a way for people to try out new devices and learn how to borrow books and audio books from the library,” said Serena Enger, the Fairfield Civic Center’s supervising librarian.

The Overdrive Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The vehicle is equipped with broadband connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players, all of which help visitors explore Solano County Library’s digital book borrowing service.  Interactive learning stations give visitors an opportunity to search the library’s digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample ebooks, audiobooks, music, and video.

Ebooks are available at the Library’s website at http://www.solanolibrary.com. Users can browse the growing collection of bestselling, new release, and classic titles, and check out a digital title with a valid library card. “Our visitors tell us that they love the convenience and immediacy of reading on a device.  Solano County Library is committed to providing free digital reading and listening options,” said Enger.

Once the digital titles have been checked out, users can view them in a browser or transfer them to a supported mobile device. Many audio titles can also be burned to audio CD. At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. There are never late fees or damaged items.

The Digital Bookmobile is a service of Solano County Library and is operated by OverDrive, Inc. To check out digital books and more, visit http://www.solanolibrary.com.
