Benicia Love Poem Submissions on Patch

Readers are encouraged to comment on the poems. Tell us what you like and don't like.

Benicia Patch readers will get a chance to weigh in on the love poems entered in the annual love poem contest presented by the Benicia Poet Laureate Program.  The contest is sponsored jointly by the Benicia Public Library and the Benicia Historical Museum.

The submission period for the annual love poetry contest is closed and the submissions have been sent to the judge.  There were over 200 entries.  Between now and February 12, 2012 Benicia Patch will publish all the poems and we want our readers to tell us their favorite poems.

Each author was allowed submit up to three unpublished poems.  Each day three to four poems will appear during the course of the day on Benicia Patch.  Tell us in the comments section what you like and don’t like about each poem.

The poems will be judged by a community Poet Laureate from outside Benicia.  The winning poems and the poems receiving an honorable mention will be read by their authors at the Poems, Roses, Chocolate and Community event at the Benicia Historical Museum the Sunday before Valentine’s Day.

There is neither rhyme nor reason to the process for selecting the poems to be published each day.
