Artist Profile: Paula Boas
She steps away from science to abstract improvisations of color.
Artist Paula Boas was born in Pittsburgh and attended college at the University of Maryland, where she earned a degree in engineering.
She creates abstract paintings “rooted in architectural and natural landscapes and their respective geometric and organic forms.” Boas paints in multiple layers using paint, graphite, script and paper to create what she calls “subtle yet complex surfaces.”
“I have embraced abstract painting after years as an engineer in the analytical environment of the petrochemical industry,” Boas says in her bio.
She works from her studio at 938 Tyler St., #201, where she will show her work for April 30 and May 1.
