Arts Benicia Event Gives Families Some Quality Time before the Super Bowl

Art projects will be inspired by Art of the Community exhibit.

The big game is Sunday and moms and dads looking for a way to get the kids to burn off some energy before the kick-off can head to Arts Benicia for Family Art Day.  This Super Bowl edition of will have the kids work on projects inspired by the show currently at the gallery.

“Arts Benicia provides at least one family art day per exhibition,” said Arts Benicia Executive Director, Larnie Fox.  “A typical family art day includes three or more projects, and is usually attended by scores of parents and children from local schools and surrounding communities.”

“Kids work with volunteers and parents to create colorful original art, inspired by the art in our gallery. Families tend to stay for the entire two hours,” said Fox.

Candace Van Dewark, a member of the Youth Education Committee is currently leads the Family Art Days.

“Candace has a wonderful grasp of what children are interested in, and which projects give them those “aha! moments” that help them grow as creative people,” said Fox.  “Family Art Days are free, though donations are always appreciated. Projects are aimed at kids four years of age or older.”

Family Art Day will take place this Sunday, February 5 from 1-3 p.m. ensuring families plenty of time to get home before the opening kickoff.
