Dance with me, my darling

Remember the night in '48
When we snuck away from school
Jumped in the broken-down silver streak car
All six of us sped to the bar

We left our mates at the table
While we swept across the room
A little too fast, carried away
Tripped on our feet, hit the floor

Up we hopped, continued to dance
We returned to our friends still sitting
"Did you see that couple fall," they asked
"They were probably drunk," we stated

Dance with me, sweet darling
Dance with me now that we're old
Let's not trip on our aching feet
I'll never get up from the floor.
