because it means the softness of our story

was impaled with perpetual myths,

fabled fifths all filled with future

that broke open and began,

began with the refuse of our touch,

the violence of our eyes,

and the lameness of our attraction.

It means that our passion is permanent,

that the blackened eyes of our hope

shall forever stay stained with our dignity.

It means that every hour we wasted with wishes

will mend a moment that broke open with pride.

It means that all of our laughter,

all of our light,

all of our misty colored convictions

will collapse around corners of us.

That the fated frustrations of change

have more than moved on your memory,

they’ve contrived a new core,

a logicless absolute –

unfermented and full of pain.

It means that even our music was moodless,

a divine devastation of will and comfort.

All air and hair and fairy tales,

unlashed to serve us soundly.

It means we were meant to make it.

It means we held on for a cause.

It means our lives are appropriate

and that God wasn’t wrong.
