The middle school Color Guard coach, Cara Hansen, is an accomplished graduate of the BMS and BHS band programs. Once in high school, Cara shined as an amazing performer where she captivated with her performances. She was a BHS Color Guard Captain for two years. Once she graduated in 2009, Cara continued her love of the program by coaching the middle school's Color
Guard for more than three years.

On February 27th of this year, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This unexpected diagnosis caused Cara to drop everything that was happening so she could focus on her treatment. She was forced to leave her coaching job at the middle school at the height of their Winterguard season. She has courageously been undergoing months of strong treatment and is surrounded by a solid circle of family and friends.
