Benicia Residents Show Up to Help Santa Light Holiday Tree

Break in the storms helped make successful event.

The weather was bordering on frightful, but that didn’t stop Benicians of all ages from coming downtown for the annual tree lighting and Holiday Open House on Friday, November 30.

Santa Claus was on hand to help Mayor Elizabeth Patterson and the city council throw the switch and light the tree at the end of First Street while hundreds of people looked on.

After the tree lighting the crowds headed up First Street where merchants kept stores open late so people could get an early start on their holiday shopping.
