Mike and Gayle’s Closes after 33 Years in Business

Small, family owned business couldn't come to an agreement with shopping center owners.

Mike and Gayle’s is closed now.  An auction house will clear out the equipment and sell it off.  Some employees have found new jobs while others are taking some time off before jumping back into the job market.

Owners Mike and Gayle Ioakimedes have been approached to run other restaurants but no decisions have been made.

Many diners who came to eat on the last day of business were there to reminisce as they enjoyed their meal.

“When my son was in high school, we had this tradition that I’d take him to breakfast every Wednesday morning,” said Joey Meade.  “This is where I’d take him.”

Waitress Lee Ann Teasdale who has worked at Mike and Gayle’s since 1998  isn’t ready to work for a different restaurant. “I’m going to take it easy for a while,” said Teasdale.  “I’m going to miss them.  When they take you in they make you family.”
