Sprouts and Shutters: Hair Salon For Men and a Rumor of a National Chain
This week we feature a new business moving into Southampton Center.
Sprout: Opening soon at the Southampton Shopping Center is SportClips, a hair salon catering to men and boys. According to the SportClips website, the store will have the feel of an old fashioned barber shop complete with television at each station so a guy can get his hair cut without missing any of the game.
Rumored Sprout: While reporting this story Benicia Patch heard that Weingarten Realty, the company that owns the Southampton Shopping Center, is near completing a deal with a national discount store chain that will take the four empty spaces next to US Bank in the Southampton Shopping Center.
City Manager Brad Kilger was not aware that Weingarten might be negotiating with the discount store chain. “I have no comment,” said Kilger. “I haven’t had a chance to think about it. We’ll give Weingarten a call to confirm this rumor.”

Weingarten representative Carrie Murray said she would have to talk to the leasing agent before she could comment on whether a national discount store chain was negotiating to move into the Southampton Shopping Center.
