Your Industrial Park Neighbors: Benicia Foundry and Ironworks

Business is a unique part of Benicia's history.

Benicia Patch periodically profiles businesses in the Industrial Park. Following are excerpts from an interview with Ken Coleman, national sales manager at Benicia Foundry and Ironworks.

How long has Benicia Foundry and Ironworks been in business?
Our factory and 10,000-square-foot showroom  have been in this location for 18 years. Before that, the business was located on H Street for 30 years. We are a second generation family-run business.

As I understand, Benicia Foundry and Ironworks is a significant part of Benicia history.
Yes. The foundries have a long tradition and  history in Benicia. The first was built here in 1853 when Benicia became California’s third capital.

You offer patio furniture, beds, cradles, cribs and accessories. Which items are your most popular?
Our beds. We are a wholesaler for retailers like Pottery Barn, Drexel Heritage. Our patio furniture is also popular. All of the products are handcrafted on site.

How do you get the word out that you are in the Industrial Park?
We do advertising in local publications. People from Benicia are aware we are here because of our long history in the town. And, every holiday, we publicize a 35 to 50 percent sale.
