Weekend Watch: Holiday Movies on Netflix

Weekend Watch is a weekly movie review looking at the latest films in the theaters, what's streaming online, and even black and white classics. This Week: Christmas films!

After the whirlwind that was my wedding and the subsequent awesomeness that was my honeymoon I realized that I’ve barely had time to get into the Holiday spirit. In order to rectify this problem I’ve been binging on my favorite Christmas movies.

Oddly enough, this has proven to be somewhat of a chore because both Netflix and Redbox (My usual go-to sources for movies) are severely lacking in the Holiday movie department. I was hoping for classics like A Christmas Story (1983) or my wife’s favorite Love Actually (2003), but instead found horrendous titles like Christmas in Compton (2012) and 12 Dates of Christmas (2011).

However, in my efforts to give you a list worthy of Santa himself, I have come up with a few presents that will help bolster the holiday spirit.

The Best Christmas Movies on Netflix

White Christmas (1954) – Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye sing and dance their way through my favorite Christmas classic.

Christmas Vacation (1989) – Chevy Chase stars in this hilarious film centered around one man’s struggle for the perfect family Christmas.

The Polar Express (2004) – Tom Hanks voices a handful of characters in this fun animated film about a boy’s journey to the North Pole.

I wish there were more, but at least there are a few gems on the streaming service.

Merry Christmas everybody! Next week I'll be back with a regular review for your reading pleasure.

What are your favorite Christmas movies? And have you found any other holiday gems on Netflix? Comment below.

My favorite Christmas movie, hands down, is "The Muppet Christmas Carol." It's just so well done, the music is wonderful and it really captures the child-like spirit of unbounded joy and good will at Christmas.
