A time to visit and talk art

My first ten years with Benicia Ballet Theatre I was known as the guest dancer or guest faculty.  I was always so busy racing up and down the 680 time with one community was limited. As Artistic Director of Benicia Ballet Theatre, I suggested we offer an event where families could learn about our vision for the company.  With the great fortune I have had, the vision has grown to an artistic collaboration beyond my own.

Benicia Ballet Theatre is very excited to offer an event where the community can meet the “Directors” this Sunday.  Our productions with orchestra and extensive staging reach beyond dance.  Each Director involved is dedicated to the success of their work.  This spring we are excited to present a World Premiere ballet of new music composed for our company by Durwynne Hsieh.  You can meet the composer and learn about his inspiration and process.  Our Director of Music Teri Yumae will be performing with him an original score.  Conductor Steven Thompson will speak on his process in preparing for these majors productions, bringing together professional musicians and students of music for new works. 

There are still more- We have truly gifted Directors of Stage Design, Costuming, and Lighting.  Wes Muyco, Jeanette Hunter, and Harold Waters too will be on hand to talk about their work in creating the full picture for the audience.  When I walk on stage for each production is in like opening a present as a result of the work of these exceptional people.  It is beautiful to see all of these artists come together with their very different backgrounds and produce one brilliant piece of artwork.
