BMS Viking Band Sweeps it up at Encinal Extravaganza of Bands

Benicia Viking Middle School Band attends the Encinal High School Extravaganza of Bands and sweeps it up!

Saturday at the Encinal High School Extravaganza of Bands in Alameda, the BMS Viking Band took out all the stops for a near flawless performance to give them
Showmanship, Parade and Concert Sweepstakes prizes.  Drum Major and Color Guard also showed their prowess and took home first place awards. Over 2,000 musicians, mostly from local middle schools came to compete in the event.

The Showmanship Sweepstakes is an award presented to the Marching Band that overall presented themselves with the best performance. Parade Sweepstakes is presented to the Marching Band that was at the top of their game the entire parade route. Concert Sweepstakes is given the Concert Band that beat out all
divisions in their performance pieces. The hours of practice the Marching Band,
Symphonic Band and Color Guard teams put into their routines certainly paid off
on Saturday.

The Marching Band next competes at the Vallejo High School Band Review on May 11th.
