Mollie Vojvoda passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on Jan 10, 2013. She was 96 years old and was surrounded by loved ones. A longtime resident of Richmond, CA, Mollie lived in Benicia for the last 18 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Matilda Klobas, her brothers John and Frank Klobas, and her beloved husband, Nick Vojvoda.

Mollie and her late husband were avid Oakland A’s fans and traveled often to the Oakland Coliseum on BART.  They enjoyed traveling and took several trips abroad to visit family in their heritage country of Croatia.

Mollie was a founding member, along with her cherished cousin, Mary Bogliolio, of the East Richmond Reunion Group. She looked forward to spending time with her fellow classmates and friends, and ballroom dancing with her husband. She adored her lucky bus trips to Reno, Nib’s burgers, her ‘sewing club’ luncheons, and Nation’s Berry Pies! She truly enjoyed her pastries and remarked that her dream job might be to work at the counter of a bakery shop.

Her love of animals kept her surrounded by a menagerie of pets throughout the years: dogs, cats, rabbits, and her recent best buddy, Smokey.

Mollie is survived by 6 of her 7 children: Jack Newell and his wife Marline, John Vojvoda and his wife Sandy, Marianne Carroll, Nadine Sloniker and her husband Ralph, Judith Newell, and Dyanne Vojvoda and her husband Dan Clark. Catherine Vojvoda passed away in 1983. In addition, Mollie is survived by her 13 grandchildren.

Mollie will be laid quietly to rest at a small family gathering at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, next to her dream fireman, ‘Pop’.

Mollie’s family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Vallejo Kaiser Permanente 4thfloor emergency care and the kindhearted team of Vallejo Kaiser Hospice for their gentle and loving attention during this difficult time. We would especially like to thank the magnificent family of caregivers who gave so much of themselves and their love over the years to our precious mother and grandmother. Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.
