Obituary: Proud American and Loving Family Man, Edward Dean Dudley

Edward Dean Dudley passed away peacefully in his home on Nov. 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's.

Edward Dean Dudley passed away peacefully in his home on Nov. 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Edward was born in Elgin, Oregon, Dec. 20, 1938 to Marvin Ray and Fern Dudley. He moved to Vallejo, California at the age of 13, with his two siblings, Anita and Jim, after the tragic passing of their parents.

Professionally, Dudley was proud to have spent his 42-year- and-three-month career in the Air Force and at Travis Air Force Base performing civilian duties, working on C-5, C-141 and C-130 planes.

Known to his co-workers as Ed, he worked active duty U.S. Air Force from1958-1962 in Special Vehicle Maintenance, becoming a civilian employee at Travis AFB in the Pneudraulic Systems Shop, Fuel Distribution Shop, and retiring in 2000 as the Non-Destructive Inspection Laboratory Shop Supervisor.

Edward graduated from Vallejo High School, class of 1958, and earned an Associate Science Degree in Industrial Management from Solano Community College in 1976.

The loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was a long time member of Celebration Church who loved God. 

Always known to be a jokester, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, working on his jeep, camping and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was an extreme history buff with extensive military and war knowledge. Ed loved his country; he painted an American Flag on the roof of his barn as soon as he retired, and even after Alzheimer’s had taken his memory, would hum the National Anthem.

Edward is preceded in death by his Uncle Lester and Aunt Audrey Breedlove who raised him after his parents passed, and his sister Ramona Rae Dudley who passed away at only nine-months old.

He is survived by his wife of 55-years, Alice Dudley, older brother Jim Dudley, sister Anita Dudley-Conrad, sons Terry, and Raymond and daughter-in-law Tammy, grandchildren Lindsey, Alysha, Raymond Jr., Terry Jr., and Deana, as well as, seven great-grandchildren.
