A couple of nights ago I was working on a story when the light above my work bench went out. As I was reaching up to remove the burned out bulb I knocked over a glass and spilled the contents on my computer which immediately went black because as we all know, electronics and liquids don’t really play well together.
I immediately fired up my 6-year-old desktop computer, hooked it to the internet and went back to work only to find that the processor in a 6-year-old computer is challenged by the complexities of today’s internet. The poor thing could barely get out of its own way it was so slow.
Of course, when I purchased it back in 2006 it was a top of the line Apple Computer product with the latest tools for editing pictures and video and uploading them to the web.
Now I click on a web page and go make coffee while the computer tries to open the page. The bed gets made while the pictures are uploading.
I realized I have been spoiled by my bosses at Patch who armed me with a new computer (and are replacing it too) and all the cool tech tools.
I fear I have become a technology snob.
