Editor’s Notebook: The Moment the Decision was Cemented

Was there something specific that caused you to vote for a particular presidential candidate?

I really enjoy the discussions we have on Patch about politics and the political process, especially when readers are thoughtful in their responses and respectful of the opinions of other readers.

Here is a comment from reader Marnix A. van Ammers that was posted November 8, 2012:

"Now that Romney has lost, the question is why? I don't think the 47% remark by itself did him in. I think Romney's huge and multiple swings to the right and back to the center were a major factor. Another factor was the blatant lying in his campaign's ads (e.g. quoting part of an Obama speech where Obama was actually quoting McCain, saying Jeep was going to move jobs to China). Other factors may have been his abusing the Benghazi attack for political gain, poor behavior on his trip abroad, refusal to show more than 2 tax returns. I can't blame Romney's loss only on Romney though -- I think his party is equally responsible."

What do you think?  Was there a moment when you decided to vote for Romney or Obama or was your mind made up from the beginning?  Did you vote for a third-party candidate?  Tell why in the comments.  Please be respectful of other readers’ comments.  This is an opportunity to learn.
