Editor’s Notebook: The Moment the Decision was Cemented

Was there something specific that caused you to vote for a particular presidential candidate?

I really enjoy the discussions we have on Patch about politics and the political process, especially when readers are thoughtful in their responses and respectful of the opinions of other readers.

Here is a comment from reader Marnix A. van Ammers that was posted November 8, 2012:

"Now that Romney has lost, the question is why? I don't think the 47% remark by itself did him in. I think Romney's huge and multiple swings to the right and back to the center were a major factor. Another factor was the blatant lying in his campaign's ads (e.g. quoting part of an Obama speech where Obama was actually quoting McCain, saying Jeep was going to move jobs to China). Other factors may have been his abusing the Benghazi attack for political gain, poor behavior on his trip abroad, refusal to show more than 2 tax returns. I can't blame Romney's loss only on Romney though -- I think his party is equally responsible."

The comment is attached to Poll: Can Mitt Romney Come Back from Recent Gaffes During Campaign?:

What do you think?  Was there a moment when you decided to vote for Romney or Obama or was your mind made up from the beginning?  Did you vote for a third-party candidate?  Tell why in the comments.  Please be respectful of other readers’ comments.  This is an opportunity to learn.

There are people on this planet and in particular in this country who refuses to fall for the Okie Doke!!! I for one are one of those people!!! We are not blind, stupid or have selective and short term memory like so many others. I remember how we got into this "Economic Tsunami". I remember w. bush stealing the election twice, I remember w.bush and his administration lying about weapons of mass destruction, I remember w. bush invading a sovereign country,I remember w. bush setting Colin Powell up to lie about "Yellow Cake Plutonium", I remember w. bush declaring the war over while standing on a USS Carrier, I remember the incompetence of the bush administration during Hurricane Katrina('' Brown you're doing a helluva job") I remember the impotent and dumb founded look on w. bushes' face when an aide whispered in his ear that America was under attack, I remember the creation of the worse economic crisis since the the Great Depression. I remember!!! And why you don't, leaves me to question your logic, your mental state, your reasoning, your grip on reality, your place in this society and mostly!!! YOUR HUMANITY!!!
