Roaming pit bulls attacked my Sheltie while on walk.

Linus as he was.

What were two pig  bulls doing loose walking down Chelsea Hills Drive yesterday afternoon and who do they belong to?  My dog was nearly killed by those pit bulls.  Happened yesterday around 5PM.  Thanks to a good samaritan who first warned me of the presence of loose pit bulls and then helped get the pit bulls off my dog, my dog is still alive.  I'd sure like to know who the man was so I can thank him.  He was a very large man in a black SUV.  Also, if anyone knows who has 2 pit bulls missing (they were taken into police custody at the Corporation Yard), please let me know.  Thanks.

Correction. I don't know that the pit bull owners actually picked up their dogs. I just surmised that after hearing that they had paid their fine and were on their way to the Corporate Yard. Perhaps they were only to see the dogs, but not to take them.

I've learned more. The pit bulls were "co-owned" by someone in an unincorporated area of Vallejo and by someone living on Gill Way near White Chapel Dr.. The person from Gill Way picked up the dogs. They shouldn't have been released, but at the time, the Animal Control Officer was unavailable. The dogs are now in Vallejo. They will have to be surrendered or the owners will have to abide by some very difficult rules. If the owners don't agree to pay our vet bills, we'll have to go small claims court at some point. I'm very glad that our dog is alive and recovering.

I'm Marnix's wife. Just want to clarify that the pit bulls did not reside at the house on Gill Way.

How did those dogs get a hold of your dog to cause such a large incision like the 2 on your dog? I've never seen a dog bite like that in my 5 plus years working at a vet clinic. I hope your baby is recovering well and already feeling back to normal!

Alex, the our dog's skin was pulled away from the tissue beneath the skin. The veterinarian @ Solano Pet Emergency Clinic had to perform surgery and remove the "de-vitalized" tissue and then re-connect the skin to live tissue. Then stitch up the skin itself. Today, Linus had his drain tubes removed. One more step in his recovery. Next week the stitches will be removed. We are grateful that he is doing as well as he is.
