Benicia Music Store Owner Remaining Upbeat Despite Break-in

Thieves stole three guitars earlier this week.

ABC Music store owner Stan Houston is keeping his head up despite having his business broken into sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning earlier this week.

“Somebody got guitars at less than internet pricing,” he said.

The thief was able to get away with three guitars valued at about $400 each. Two were Samick jumbo-style 12-strings and the other was a Gaudin six-string.

The perpetrators entered the business by breaking through a pair of locked wooden doors on H Street. Once through that doorway, the burglar had access to a small storage area which has two doors - one that opens from the storage area to the store and one that is locked to the outside. The thief penetrated the locked door to the store by just shaking it loose.

“It was a little annoying that they knew that,” Houston said. “It sounds like a personal theft for their private use. If they were looking for money they bypassed all the expensive things.”

Houston said the police currently have no suspects.
