CHP and Benicia Fire Department respond to an accident just beyond the E. 2nd Street onramp

The and California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a two-car accident on Westbound Interstate 780 late Saturday afternoon.  The accident between a Honda Civic and a Dodge Charger occurred as the vehicles were entering the freeway.

According to CHP Officer Greg Ramos, “the Civic was in front of the Dodge Charger, they both went to go to the fast lane at the same time the Charger was overtaking (the Civic) and they sideswiped each other." Both vehicles incurred minor damage. The driver of the Honda Civic, an unidentified Benicia woman, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with neck pain.
