Benicia Firefighters Beat Back Brush Fire Near Southampton Homes

The fire was burning toward homes when fire department personnel arrived on the scene.

 

 

Benicia firefighters knocked down a fire that burned one-and-a-half acres of open space grassland near the bottom of Hastings Drive.  The Benicia Fire Department dispatchers started receiving calls about the fire about 7:35 p.m., Thursday July 25.  First responders arrived about five minutes later.

Two brush units and a water tanker from Benicia were aided by an fire engine from Vallejo were used to fight the fire and to provide protection to threatened homes on Breck Court.

The fire was contained and extinguished in 25 minutes according to the Benicia Fire Department.

 

No one was injured by the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation though Division Chief K.C. Smith termed the fire “suspicious in nature.”
