Benicia Hires New Fire Chief

Jim Lydon comes from the San Rafael Fire Department.

Benicia will have a new fire chief starting Monday. 

Jim Lydon, 48, formerly served as firefighter, captain and battalion chief with the San Rafael Fire Department, the Times-Herald reported

Lydon replaces interim chief Nick Thomas who replaced chief Steve Vucurevich after his retirement.

The Benicia Herald reports that Lydon holds a bachelor's degree in fire administration and is currently working on a master's degree.
