Benicia Police Log: Attempted Robbery on First Street, Puppy Found on West I Street

4:41 a.m.: A car was broken into on West L Street.

7:54 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at business on Military East.

9:44 a.m.: A resident reported finding a puppy on West I Street.

10:28 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Hillcrest.

1:53 p.m.: There was a big rig parked on Military West that was blocking a fire lane.  It was gone when officers arrived.

2:29 p.m.: A homeowner on Kearney failed to disarm the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.

3:33 p.m.: Police received a report of a dog running loose on Willow.  The dog was gone when officers arrived.

3:36 p.m.: The two dogs running around on Via Media were nabbed and taken to the animal holding facility at the city Corporation Yard.

5:13 p.m.: The panhandlers spotted near an exit at the Southampton Center were gone when officers arrived.

5:14 p.m.: The car reportedly speeding on East Second Street had sped away before officers could get to the area.

6:33 p.m.: A trailer was stolen from Gateway Plaza.

6:37 p.m.: Officers spoke to the panhandlers on Military West who were telling people they needed money because their car broke down.

7:00 p.m.: Police received a report of people passing something between two cars parked in a lot on Rose Drive.  Investigating officers were unable to locate anyone passing anything between vehicles.

9:32 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a First Street business.

9:47 p.m.: A driver called to report traffic cones on Cambridge.  Officers confirmed that the cones were there.

10:48 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into an attempted robbery that occurred on First Street.

11:16 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Indiana in the Benicia Industrial Park.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
