Benicia Police Log: Barking Dogs, a Wrong-way Driver and A Dog Bites a Man in Southampton Center

8:23 a.m.: the alarm activation on Hillcrest appears to have been an error by the person trying to turn the alarm off.

10:55 a.m.: Officers were unable to locate the youngsters who were reportedly throwing things over the freeway.

11:06 a.m.: There was a barking dog on East T Street.  The dog’s people were away from the house but they did get a note from officers.

12:37 p.m.: This time the barking dog was on Via Media and again the dog’s people were away from the house.

3:54 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into an alleged case of vandalism at an East Fifth Street business.

4:12 p.m.: Police received a report of kids skateboarding on the bocce ball courts on East K Street.   It is unclear if the kids were skating there because the downtown skate park has been closed.   The skateboarders were gone when officers arrived.

4:22 p.m.: A resident on James Court reported the theft of fence boards over the last couple of months.

4:32 p.m.: Police received a report of an unrestrained toddler in a car traveling on Interstate 780 east.  The police were unable to locate the vehicle.

6:09 p.m.: A 19-year-old Benicia woman was arrested on a variety of charges including grand theft, receiving stolen property and burglary.  The young woman was arrested on East L Street and was taken to county jail.

6:23 p.m.: A resident on Lori was concerned when a man she didn’t know came to her door.

7:13 p.m.: Police began in investigation of an incident where a dog bit a man at Southampton Center.

8:12 p.m: A youngster who was reported missing on Southampton Road was quickly located.

11:01 p.m.: Police received a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on Interstate 780 East. The description of this vehicle very closely resembles one of the cars driven by one of the two persons arrested fro driving while intoxicated shortly after this was reported.

11:28 p.m.: A 56-year-old Benicia man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  He got to sleep it off at county jail.

11:48 p.m.: A 51-year-old Benicia woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. 

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
