Benicia Police Log: Drunk Bicyclist on Military East, Drunk Visitor on Riverhill, Painters on Semple

6:06 a.m.: Police began investigating the theft of a pick up truck from Poppy.

9:08 a.m.: The suspicious person spotted on West K Street was gone when officers arrived.  Based on the description, it is believed to be a recycler.

2:10 p.m.: There was an alarm activation at a home on Mizner.  Investigating officers were unable to determine why the alarm went off.

2:57 p.m.: There was a pit bull loose on Viewmont.  In this case the dog was very friendly and was returned to its people.

3:47 p.m.: Animal Control was able to locate and capture a dog running loose on First Street.  The dog was taken to the Corp. Yard.

3:54 p.m.: Those guys who appeared to be trespassing at a house under construction on Semple were the painters.

4:00 p.m.: The big rig that appeared to be stalled on Southampton Road wasn’t broken down.  The driver was driving really slowly.

4:41 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Military West.

5:42 p.m.: A vehicle on First Street was parked in such a way as to block a driveway and was cited.

10:21 p.m.: A 60-year-old Benicia man was arrested for drunk driving on his bicycle.  The man was weaving near the centerline and didn’t have a headlight.  He was taken to county jail and his bicycle was taken to his home.

10:58 p.m.: A resident on Riverhill was visited by someone who was too drunk to drive home.  The Riverhill resident didn’t want the drunk person at their house so police were called.  The drunk person got a ride home in a police car.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
