Benicia Police Log: Drunk Driver and Domestic Violence Suspect Nabbed in Same Traffic Stop

The following information was supplied by the Benicia Police Department, and unless otherwise noted, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

This is the crime bulletin for from the Benicia Police Department. 

Monday, May 27, 20132:14 a.m.: There was a hit and run on I-780.
6:11 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Military East business.
8:04 a.m.: An employee at a Solano Square business failed to disarm the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.
8:19 a.m.: Police opened an investigation into the theft of a car from East L Street.
10:29 a.m.: The woman reportedly dumping garbage in the open space was really collecting it for disposal.
11:45 a.m.: A resident on McKay Way asked officers to document a case of an unwanted guest.
3:18 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Military East business.
7:03 p.m.: Police were called to West Ninth Street where a man and woman in a car were having a loud argument.  Before officers arrived, the man got out of the car with the woman and got into a car driven by a 33-year-old Benicia man.  Officers stopped that car.  The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and the passenger, a 45-year-old Benicia man, was arrested on domestic violence charges.  
7:56 p.m.: A dog died on Channing.  The dog's people believed the animal may have been poisoned.
8:17 - 21 p.m.:  Police received two reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Alta Loma and again near Mayo.  They didn't locate anyone sporting a firearm.
9:52 p.m.: Police were called to a West L Street home where a mother and her son were in the midst of a verbal altercation.  Responding officers were able to mediate a truce.

Editor’s Note:  Sometimes you might find items in the police log that seem humorous but please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
