Benicia Police Log: Drunk Drivers, Domestic Violence and a Friendly Dog on the Loose

The following information was supplied by the Benicia Police Department, and unless otherwise noted, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, August 9, 2013

12:26 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to  a West H Street residence where a couple were having a loud argument.

2:17 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Gateway Plaza business.

2:19 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Industrial Way business.

5:23 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to First Street where an alarm was reportedly sounding.  The alarm had stopped when officers arrived on the scene.

11:14 a.m.: A citizen on East L Street asked for officer assistance.

11:52 a.m.: A resident on O’Hare was the victim of credit card fraud.

12:56 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a White Chapel residence.

1:21 p.m.: Police received a report of a friendly dog on the loose in the vicinity of Panorama.  The dog was gone when officers arrived.

1:37 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Shirley residence.

2:49 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Bayshore Road business.

2:59 p.m.: There was loud music coming from an upstairs unit on First Street.  Officers talked to the occupants who turned down the volume.

3:14 p.m.: Officers left a note for the owners of the barking dog on London and also referred the case to the Animal Control Officer.

6:20 p.m.: There was a rollover accident on eastbound I-780 with minor injuries.

6:48 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the suspicious van reported on West Ninth Street.

8:35 p.m.: A woman stole a variety of cosmetics and first aid items from a business in Solano Square.

10:56 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the rowdy group of boys playing in a Southampton Road pool.

11:19 p.m.: Police received a report of loud noise coming from a Jackson Street business.

11:53 p.m.: A 34-year-old Benicia man was arrested on Ridge Court for drunk driving.

11:56 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a black pick-up truck involved in a hit and run collision on West C Street.

Saturday, August 10, 2013

12:14 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Benicia High School after receiving a report of possible shots fired.

2:01 a.m.: A vehicle was towed from First Street.

7:25 a.m.: A mailbox on Southampton Road was tampered with, but it appeared no mail was missing.

9:05 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East K Street business.

11:36 a.m.: A 23-year-old Benicia man was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Santa Cruz County.

12:22 p.m.: That car that was reportedly illegally parked on Southampton Road was actually fine.

4:55 p.m.: A 22-year-old El Macero man was arrested on Goodyear Road for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle.

5:21 p.m.: A 27-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on Larkin for attempted assault with a deadly weapon during a domestic violence dispute.

6:22 p.m.: Officers spoke to the participants in a family dispute on Daffodil.

6:46 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the kids who were riding their bikes in the middle of Columbus Parkway.

7:10 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Southampton Road business.

8:59 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East K Street business.

9:27 p.m.: The erratic driver reported on Rose Drive was determined not to be drunk.

10:30 p.m.: A 43-year-old Benicia man was arrested for battery during a domestic disturbance.

10:39 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a drunk driver reported on I-780.

11:29 p.m.: A 52-year-old Benicia man was arrested for drunk driving on Southampton Road.

11:56 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Belvedere where a loud party was under way.  The volume was turned down after officers spoke to the party hosts.

Editor’s Note:  Sometimes you might find items in the police log that seem humorous but please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
