Benicia Police Log: Lots of Alarms and Arrests and the Disappearing Barking Dog

12:12 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Columbus Parkway business.

3:40 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a city owned facility on Military West.

4:12 a.m.: A resident on Tamara reported someone knocking on the front door.  Officers found no one at the front door.

7:51 a.m.: Thieves broke into two cars parked at Gateway Plaza.

9:17 a.m.: An employee at a Park Road business accidentally activated the burglar alarm.

11:07 p.m.: A 52-year-old Benicia man was arrested for grand theft, conspiracy and being in possession of stolen property.

11:12 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Stone Road business.

11:26 a.m.: A resident on Linda Vista received threats over a civil issue.

12:39 p.m.: Officer couldn’t find the car with four men inside who may have been smoking pot.

1:48 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a home on Semple.

4:45 p.m.: A BMX bike was stolen on East L Street.

5:03 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a home on Windsor.

6:28 p.m.: A 58-year-old Vallejo man was arrested because of an outstanding warrant issued in Napa County.  His companion, a 42-year-old Vallejo woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

8:04 p.m.: The disappearing barking dog was up to its old tricks on Riverview.

8:19 p.m.: A resident on Carlisle asked police to check her home because the front door was open and she had been gone all day.  Everything appeared to be in fine shape.

8:51 p.m.: A vehicle was blocking a driveway on East N Street.

9:24 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on First Street.

10:18 p.m.: Police received a report of an open business on Columbus where the employees were not responding.  Officers checked with the employees and everything was fine.

10:29 p.m.: Police opened an investigation into a residential burglary on Kearney.

11:38 p.m.: Two Benicia men, a 22-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested and taken to county jail.  The men were involved in a scuffle and had the bad taste to resist arrest and it turned out they were both drunk in public as well.

1:40 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Military East residence.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
