Benicia Police Log: Lots of Neighbors Fighting, an Arson Fire and an Ambling Cow on Lake Herman Road

1:04 a.m.: Police received multiple reports of gunshots fired in the vicinity of O’Hare.  They were unable to find anyone shooting guns in the area.

8:08 a.m.: A resident on Grant Street wanted to speak to an officer regarding a civil issue.

8:35 a.m.: Officers rustled up their wrangling gear but it wasn’t needed.  The cow that was reported wandering along Lake Herman Road was gone when officers arrived.

8:51 a.m.: A resident on Southampton Road wanted to speak to an officer regarding a possible narcotics violation.

8:53 a.m.: Police talked to a juvenile and guardian about reports that the kid had threatened another juvenile.

9:58 a.m.: Officers issued a citation for illegal parking on Southampton Road.

10:06 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into the theft of a pipe from a business on East Industrial Way.

10:18 a.m.: Officers gave advice to a resident on West Second Street on how to obtain a restraining order.

11:04 a.m.: Someone dug a grave on London.  The person who reported it to police may have been a little spooked.

11:56 a.m.: A resident on Warwick asked to speak to an officer regarding an ongoing neighbor dispute.

12:07 p.m.: A homeowner on McAllister failed miserably when attempting to turn off the burglar alarm.

12:31 p.m: Police received a report of two vehicles driving recklessly on East Second Street.  They were unable to find the vehicles.

3:20 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into a case of fraud on Military East.

6:32 p.m.: Officers had a little chat with the kids who were running around in the road on East Fifth Street.

6:35 p.m.: A woman on East N Street called police to report that her son was out of control.  Officers talked to both mother and son and left when they deemed both parties were calm.

6:54 p.m.: Officers were called to a Columbus Parkway business where a customer was yelling at a cashier.  The angry customer was gone when police arrived.

7:00 p.m.: Police and fire personnel are investigating an alleged arson fire at .  Unconfirmed reports are that a small juvenile is responsible but there is no confirmation of whether an arrest has been made.

7:41 p.m.: A 62-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation.    The arrest took place on Southampton Road.

9:14 p.m.: A 51-year-old Benicia man was arrested on West J Street for domestic violence.

10:48 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into a possible hit and run on East N Street.  No one was injured but there was property damage.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
