Benicia Police Log: Phone Found, Car Lost and Disappearing Dog Didn’t Bark

1:30 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what caused an alarm activation at a Columbus Parkway fast food restaurant.

6:39 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Stone Road business.

9:57 a.m.: Police received a report of a large black dog running loose in the vicinity of West Ninth Street.  The dog was gone when officers arrived to investigate.

10:21 a.m.: A resident on Southampton Road woke to find his car had been vandalized sometime the previous evening.

10:46 a.m.:  If you lost a Nokia cell phone you may be in luck.  A citizen found a phone on Devonshire and turned it over to an officer who checked the hone into the evidence locker at the police department.

11:19 a.m.: Police were alerted to the presence of a suspicious vehicle on West Third Street.  They forwarded the concerns to the vehicle abatement officer.

12:23 p.m.: A homeowner on Mayo failed to turn off the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.

2:27 p.m.: Police were asked to document a series of harassing phone calls made to a resident on Southampton Road.  The police also dispensed advice on obtaining a restraining order.

2:58 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to East Third Street where, they were told, a case domestic violence was happening.  It turned out to be a verbal altercation and officers talked to all involved parties.

3:17 p.m.: Police opened an investigation into the theft of a vehicle from East Tennys.

5:11 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious person in the open space near Baker.  Responding officers found the person who was resting.

5:36 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Solano Square where two people were in a verbal altercation.

6:31 p.m.: Police received a report of suspicious persons in backyards of homes on Panorama.  The people were gone when officers arrived on the scene.

6:45 p.m.: A 27-year-old Detroit woman was arrested on Southampton Road for shoplifting.

7:29 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a West Tenth Street residence.

7:32 p.m.: Police received a report of two people possibly smoking pot on Lori Drive.   The alleged smokers were gone when officers arrived on the scene.

8:03 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a First Street business.

9:37 p.m.: Police received a report of kids hanging out in a housing complex on Southampton Road.  Officers spoke to the kids.

10:08 p.m.: Police received a report of a man yelling for help in the vicinity of Military West.  Officers spoke to a man who ran out of gas on the freeway.

10:27 p.m.: A resident on Vecino reported someone was knocking on their front door.  Officers conducted an area check and were unable to locate any suspicious people.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
