Benicia Police Log: Solicitors, 911 Hang-ups and a Badly Marked Handicap Parking Spot

12:08 a.m.: Officers spoke to the owner of a dog who was barking and bothering the neighbors on Buena Vista.

2:52 a.m.: Officers talked to the residents at a home on Carlisle where the garage door had been left open.  The residents closed the door.

3:01 a.m.: A resident on Ardmore thought there was someone in their garage but investigating officers didn’t see anything suspicious.

8:01 a.m.: A 911 call from a home on Greenbrier was the result of a crossed line.

8:32 a.m.: A resident on Rose Drive called police to complain about a man driving while talking on a cell phone.  Police were unable to locate the car and driver.

8:42 a.m.:  Police investigating a burglar alarm activation on Addison found nothing suspicious in the area.

9:08 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into the theft of a truck from West I Street.

10:12 a.m.: A vehicle without a handicap placard was parked in a badly marked handicap spot.

12:53 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Military West.

1:07 p.m.: Officers retrieved a bicycle that had been on West K Street for over a month.

1:52 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of kids possibly tagging the East Third Street tunnel.

4:07 p.m.: Officers stood by while a property manager on Riverview had a vehicle towed.

4:11 p.m.: Officers received a report of a solicitor selling meat on Periwinkle.

4:45 p.m.: A 911 call from a business on East Industrial turned out to be a case of misdialing the number.

6:58 p.m.: A resident on Oxford failed to turn off the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.

7:56 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a business on East Second Street malfunctioned.

8:01 p.m.: Officers talked to a suspicious person who was walking on Interstate 780 eastbound.

8:34 p.m.: Officers talked to the suspicious characters who were suspected of lighting fireworks on Columbus Parkway.

8:50 p.m.: A business owner on Getty accidentally activated the business’s burglar alarm.

10:49 p.m.: Officers talked to the people responsible for the loud music and talking on Southampton Road.

10:57 p.m.: A business on First Street asked officers to walk though because of very large crowd inside the business.

11:16 p.m.: A business on Bayshore had an alarm malfunction.

11:18 p.m.: A business on Stone Road had an alarm malfunction.

11:45 p.m.: Officers talked to a man on Southampton Road who was getting a ride home from a friend who lived in the area.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
