Benicia Police Log: Stolen Stereo on Southampton Road, Drunk Driver on West Fifth Street

12:09 a.m.: A citizen on Columbia requested to speak to an officer regarding a civil matter.

12:32 p.m.: Police received a report of a stereo stolen from a vehicle parked on Southampton Road.

1:22 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Military East.  The vehicle was gone when police arrived on the scene.

1:56 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious person in Solano Square.  Officers talked to a female who was panhandling outside a bank.

7:56 p.m.: Officers gave a warning to a person who had illegally parked a vehicle on Rose Drive.

10:40 p.m.: Police arrested a 29-year-old Benicia man for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and for a probation violation.  The arrest took place on West Fifth Street.

11:22 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a residence on Church Street.

11:32 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Hillcrest. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
