Benicia Police Log: Three Men Arrested, Un-neighborly Neighbors, and the Disappearing Barking Dog

The following information was supplied by the Benicia Police Department, and unless otherwise noted, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

 

This is the crime bulletin for Thursday, August 1, 2013 from the Benicia Police Department

1:10 a.m.: Officers were unable to find the person reportedly throwing rocks at the window of a residence on East Fourth Street.

4:03 a.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old man who they suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

6:40 a.m.: A truck parked on East Industrial was burglarized.  Tools and a generator were stolen.

8:56 a.m.: A vehicle was towed from East Fifth Street.

9:01 a.m.: A vehicle parked on Lindo was vandalized.  Someone put a rock through the windshield.

10:13 a.m.: Officers spoke to the person who had locked their dog in a car parked on Military West.

10:19 a.m.: Officers arrested a 51-year-old Benicia man on la Cruz.  The man had violated a court order.

12:24 p.m.: A resident on East Fourth Street reported receiving threats.  Officers spoke to the person who made the threats.

2:02 p.m.: Officers spoke to the couple who were having a loud argument in a park on West K Street.  The couple agreed to keep the decibel level down.

2:51 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a residence on Cooper.

2:55 p.m.: That bullet how in a car that was reported on West J Street turned out to be damage from a previous traffic collision.

4:31 p.m.: Officers stood by on East K Street as a tenant and a landlord exchanged some money and the tenant moved out.

5:00 p.m.: Police received a call about a reckless driver on Columbus.  Officers dispatched to the scene were able to interview the suspected reckless driver who denied doing anything wrong.

5:58 p.m.: There was a traffic collision on Plaza De Oro.  Investigating officers arrested a 28-year-old Benicia man for a variety of suspected violations including drunk driving and possession of controlled substances.

6:19 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the owner of a car where two dogs had been locked inside.

8:07 p.m.: Officers spoke to the owner of the car parked on Casa Grande that had an alarm activating every few minutes.

8:17 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the disappearing barking dog.  A citizen reported hearing the hound on Gallagher.

8:35 p.m.: Police assisted in having a car towed from a Southampton Road location.

9:58 p.m.: The disappearing barking dog was heard on Southampton Road, then disappeared.

10:05 p.m.: Officers spoke to the people who were parked in a suspicious vehicle reported on Snapdragon.  The people left in the car after speaking to officers.

10:43 p.m.: Officers spoke to a dog owner on York after receiving complaints of a barking dog in the area.  The dog owner denied having the dog that was the subject of the call.

11:27 p.m.: Officers removed some large rocks from First Street.

11:30 p.m.: There was an altercation between family members rep0orted on O’Farrell.  Investigating officers found the participants admitted to the altercation but refused to press charges.

11:40 p.m.: Officers intervened when two neighbors on West J Street got into a verbal altercation.  The neighbors agreed to part ways.

Editor’s Note:  Sometimes you might find items in the police log that seem humorous but please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
