Benicia Police Log: Two Burglaries on Panorama, Two Fights on First Street, Two Dogs in a Park on McAllister and Two Stolen Cars

7:49 a.m.: Officers called the tow truck when they pulled over a car being driven by someone whose license was suspended.

8:02 a.m.: Officers talked to a man who was passing out flyers on Clifton Court and made him aware that he was in violation of Benicia Municipal Code.

8:08 a.m.: There was a truck blocking the northbound lanes of Interstate 680.

9:05 a.m.: The guy slumped over the wheel of a pickup truck on Shirley Drive was waiting for a co-worker.

10:37 a.m.: Police opened an investigation into an alleged case of harassment.  A resident on Military East was receiving unwanted text messages from an ex.

11:12 a.m.: The person playing drums at a residence on East L Street agreed to stop for the day.

11:22 a.m.: The dog running loose on La Prenda was apprehended.

11:22 a.m.: The dog that was reportedly running loose on Lori escaped capture.

12:05 p.m.: A stolen vehicle was recovered in Vallejo.

7:42 p.m.: The alarm activation at a business on Military East was a malfunction.

8:22 p.m.: The alarm activation at a residence on Helaine was a user malfunction.

9:27 p.m.: A 48-year-old Benicia man was arrested for drunk driving and driving on a suspended license.

12:26 a.m.: A 26-year-old Fairfield man was arrested for drunk driving, driving with a suspended license, one felony probation violation and one misdemeanor probation violation.  The man was pulled over on southbound Interstate 680.  He was taken to the county jail.

1:26 a.m.: A resident on Grove called in to report a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle in question was associated with residence in front of which it was parked.

6:41 a.m.: Someone vandalized a vehicle parked on Stoneman.

6:45 a.m.: That guy who was slumped over the wheel of a car parked on Perth was sleeping.

8:59 a.m.: It looked like someone tried to get into the RV parking area on East H Street. 

9:55 a.m.: Two men who may have been hunting in the open space were reported by a resident on Primrose.

10:23 a.m.: Officers notified a resident of West Second Street that their mail was found on the ground.

10:43 a.m.: Somebody rummaged through a vehicle on West Second Street.  They got away with some change.

12:17 p.m.: The woman who was asking fro donations on East L Street was informed of the Benicia Municipal Code sections pertaining to fundraising on the street.

2:10 p.m.: Police facilitated a smooth child exchange at the police station.

2:59 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the alleged theft of a cell phone from a business on First Street.

4:49 p.m.: The people who were playing with their dogs in a park on McAllister were made aware that dogs are not allowed in that park.

5:34 p.m.: Officers looked for but couldn’t find the drunk driver reported in the vicinity of Steven.

6:54 p.m.: There was a traffic collision on Lake Herman Road.  At least one of the parties involved suffered an injury.

7:48 p.m.: The homeowner on Oxford accidentally set off the burglar alarm.

8:15 p.m.: The suspicious person hanging out in Solano Square left the area before officers arrived.

9:32 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on East Fifth Street.

10:21 p.m.: A 45-year-old Benicia man was arrested for a parole violation.  The state Department of Corrections had issued a warrant for his arrest.

12:00 a.m.: A 52-year old Benicia man was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

12:41 a.m.: There was a fight on First Street.

12:56 a.m.: There was another fight on First Street.

3:32 a.m.: Officers were asked to assist a citizen on West Tenth Street but the request was cancelled prior to their arrival.

7:53 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the theft of a car from Panorama.

8:29 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the theft of a car from Piercy.

9:40 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a burglary that occurred at a residence on Panorama.

9:45 a.m.: Someone went through the contents of an unlocked car on West L Street.

10:05 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the burglary of another home on Panorama.

1:23 p.m.: Some items were taken from an unlocked car on Wool.

1:35 p.m.: Nothing was taken from an unlocked vehicle on McCall that had been searched for valuables.

1:48 p.m.: A resident on Shirley Drive thought someone was trying to break in to her home.  Officers cold find no evidence of someone trying to break in.

2:54 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into the theft of items from an unlocked vehicle on Panorama.

3:18 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a residential burglary on Southampton Road.

3:51 p.m.: A 30-year-old Benicia man was arrested for a parole violation.

4:37 p.m.: Some kids on East N Street were playing with fire.  Police talked to the kids and their parents.

6:12 p.m.: There was a report of shots being fired on La Cruz but officers found no evidence.

6:25 p.m.: The visitors to a home on West Fifth Street stole some things while they were there.

8:07 p.m.: A resident on Warwick said her husband was violating a court order but officers found he was in compliance and suggested the woman seek an amendment to the court order.

11:53 p.m.: Those people who were being loud on Buena Vista agreed with officers who thought it was time to be quiet.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
