Benicia Police Log: Vandal and Drunk Driver Arrested, Disappearing Barking Dog Barks then Disappears

Friday, November 9, 2012

2:39 a.m.: There was a commercial burglary on First Street.

6:35 p.m.: There was a barking dog complaint on Mills.  The dog owner was contacted.

9:09 p.m.: The suspicious vehicle parked on Bayshore was gone when officers arrived to investigate.

9:44 p.m.: A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Wainwright.  She had an outstanding warrant issued in El Dorado County.

10:46 p.m.: There was a suspicious vehicle parked in on Bradford.  Investigating officers believed it belonged to an area resident.

11:03 p.m.: Some kids apparently tried their hand at traffic control by randomly moving traffic barriers.  Police officers, unimpressed with the work of the youths, moved the barriers back to their original positions.

11:21 p.m.: A bicycle was stolen on Rose Drive.

11:46 p.m.: Police received a report of a dog barking in the vicinity of Military East.  Investigating officers did not hear a barking dog.

Saturday, November 10, 2012

3:48 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

5:14 p.m.: Police received reports of people trespassing at Solano Square.  The trespassers were gone when officers arrived.

6:05 p.m.: A resident on Mills failed to turn off the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.

6:28 p.m.: An unwanted guest was reported at a Military East residence.  Officers spoke to the unwanted guest.

6:29 p.m.: Officers looked for but could not find a solicitor who was reportedly working in the vicinity of Clos Duvall.

6:30 p.m.: Officers talked to a pair of customers at a First Street business who were having issues with each other.

9:06 p.m.: Officers spoke to the two guys who were involved in a fight on Military East.  No one was arrested.

9:34 p.m.: The host of a loud party on Southampton Road agreed to turn down the music.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

12:01 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Goodyear Road.

4:41 p.m.: Officers helped calm family members at an East O Street home who were involved in a family dispute.

5:26 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a man who was reportedly standing in the water and throwing rocks at the end of First Street.

6:45 p.m.: The man reportedly yelling at a passing female on Anita was actually yelling at his hound.

7:30 p.m.: A citizen on Grant Street requested officer assistance with a civil issue.

7:51 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Military West business.

8:33 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate the kids who were reportedly throwing stuff a home on Military East.

9:33 p.m.: A 43-year-old Bay Point man was arrested for vandalism and violating probation.  The arrest took place on Military West.

11:06 p.m.: A 24-year-old Vallejo woman was arrested for drunk driving on East Second Street.

 

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
