Benicia Police Log: Vandalism on Essex and a Domestic Violence Arrest

5:18 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Egret.

5:32 a.m.: Officers determined that an employee at a Polk Street business failed to turn off the burglar alarm in a timely fashion.

9:14 a.m.: A resident on Mountview reported hearing an alarm coming from a neighbors home.  The alarm had stopped sounding when officers arrived.

9:51 a.m.: A set of keys was found on East Fifth Street.

11:06 a.m.: A couple was involved in a loud verbal altercation on Southampton Road.  The male half left prior to police arriving.

11:16 a.m.: Police received a report of loud music in the vicinity of Buchanan.  The music had subsided when officers arrived.

11:44 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a residence on Lansing.

 3:28 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into vandalism that took place on Essex.

3:35 p.m.: Police received a report of a car blocking traffic on Southampton Road.  The car left prior to officers arriving on the scene.

3:53 p.m.: Police received a report of a possible drunk driver on Columbus.  They were unable to locate the driver.

6:25 p.m.: A barking dog on York prompted a visit by officers to the dog’s home and a discussion with the dog’s people.

7:05 p.m.: Officers cited a vehicle that was blocking a driveway on El bonito.

7:39 p.m.: A 40-year-old Vallejo man was arrested for domestic battery.

7:47 p.m.: A stereo was stolen from the backyard of a home on Rose Drive.

7:49 p.m.: Officers spoke to a driver who reportedly ran a stop sign on West K Street.

7:50 p.m.: Officers took a report on a female missing from a Military East address.

8:28 p.m.: An employee at a West Channel Road business failed to properly disarm the burglar alarm.

10:06 p.m.: The woman missing from the Military East address was found.

10:08 p.m.: A resident on Buchanan agreed to turn down the music volume after being told by officers that the music was bothering the neighbors.

10:10 p.m.: A 33-year-old man was arrested on drug charges.

10:16 p.m.: Police searched for but were unable to find a suspicious man spotted on Southampton Road.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
