Ceremony Will Honor Newly Promoted and Hired Police Officers

The Benicia Police Department will welcome two new patrol officers, new dispatcher and two new Police Explorer Scouts.

The Benicia Police Department will welcome two new patrol officers and a new public safety dispatcher at a swearing in ceremony Monday April 2, 2012, at 4 p.m. at a ceremony in City Hall.  During the ceremony two current officers with the Benicia Police will be promoted.

MarJonne Roberson will join the Benicia Police Department as a police patrol officer.   Before accepting employment in Benicia Roberson served as a Police Corporal with the Fairfax Police Department in Marin County.

The other new patrol officer, Jenna Cameron was hired by the Benicia Police Department on February 21, 2012.  Cameron came to Benicia from the Dixon Police Department and is currently in the Benicia PD’s Field Training Program.

Frank Hartig has been promoted to the position of Police Lieutenant effective March 15th.  Frank has spent his entire law enforcement career with the Benicia Police Department, a moving up through the ranks from patrol officer.  His previous assignment prior to promotion was Police Sergeant in our Patrol Division. 

Hartig will take over the duties of Lt. Mike Daley whose official retirement date is May 31, 2012.  The Benicia Herald reports that Daley, who was hired on December 20, 1979, moved up quickly in the department, becoming a Lt. At age 30.

James "Jimmy" Laughter has been promoted to the position of Police Sergeant effective March 15th. Jimmy was hired by BPD in April of 2005 after beginning his career with the Suisun Police Department.  Jimmy previous assignment was as a Patrol Officer in our Patrol Division.

Ondriea Perino will begin her career with the department as a Public Safety Dispatcher during Monday’s ceremony.  Ondriea has worked in the private sector and this will be her first employment opportunity with a law enforcement agency.

Benicia High School students Aaron Lee and Jackson McNutt will join the department as Police Explorers.
