Driver in Solo Auto Accident Suffers Minor Injuries

It is unclear if drugs and alcohol played a part in the accident.

A car traveling at a high rate of speed failed to negotiate an exit from Interstate 780 Wednesday afternoon and ended up on its roof closing the East Fifth Street exit from the freeway.

The woman driving the late model silver Mercury suffered minor injuries in the solo accident and was transferred by ambulance to Kaiser in Vallejo.

“She admitted to leaving the freeway at an excessive speed,” said Captain Todd Matthews of the Benicia Fire Department.  Matthews went on to say the woman claimed to have been traveling around 100 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
