Fairfield Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Morning Collision With Pickup on I-680/I-80

A Fairfield man was injured when his motorcycle struck the rear of a pickup truck on southbound Interstate Highway 680 this morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

Timothy Stubbs, 47, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle from westbound Interstate Highway 80 onto southbound I-680 around 6:10 a.m. when a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck on I-680 swerved to the right and into the motorcycle's path to avoid traffic that came to an abrupt halt, CHP Sgt. Mike Lehman said.

The motorcycle hit the rear of the pickup truck, causing Stubbs to be ejected. Stubbs suffered major facial injuries and was taken to the NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, Lehman said.

The pickup truck driver, 56-year-old Robert Aslett, of Boise, Idaho, was not injured during the crash, the sergeant said.

A Sig-alert was issued and lanes of the highway were blocked until about 6:50 a.m., the CHP said.
