Man Arrested After Assault with Knife

Benicia man arrested after pulling a knife on two patrons of a local watering hole.

A 32-year-old Benicia man was arrested last night after an argument turned into an assault with a deadly weapon according to a statement released by the .

At 10:38 p.m. Wednesday evening police received a 911 call from a patron at the according to Sgt. John Daley. According to the statement offices arrived less than a minute after receiving the 911 call.

According to Daley, the suspect, Raul Francisco Lago, had exchanged words with one of the victims earlier in the evening.  As the victim was leaving the bar with a friend, Lago got into an altercation with them.  Both men, a 25-year-old and a 21-year-old are Benicia residents.  Police have not released the names of any of the victims yet.

Daley said both men received cuts and were treated at the scene by Benicia Fire Department paramedics.  Neither man required hospitalization. 

A third victim, a 48-year-old Vallejo man who was trying to act as a peacemaker received a slash wound to his hand and was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance.

Lago was also treated at the scene and at a local hospital before being taken into custody and transported to county jail.
