Update: More than 4,000 Benicia Residents Without Power Friday Morning

Over 600 remain without power as of 3:30 p.m.

UPDATE 3:30 PM

Power has been restored to all but 660 of the 3,600 customers who lost their electricity in Benicia this morning, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

There was no immediate estimate for when the power will be restored to the remaining customers, PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers said.

The outage was caused by the failure of an underground cable, Ehlers said.

The areas near West L Street, Church Street and Southampton Road were affected by the outage, Ehlers said.

Some schools in the area were also affected, she said.
