Police Log: Car Alarms Stop Sounding When Benicia Police Arrive

There were also some dead animals officers had to deal with.

There were plenty of arrests over the weekend for things like drunk driving and being in possession of a switchblade.  Officers got two calls about suspicious characters taking pictures of the oil refinery.  They were able to locate on of the photographers.

12:08 p.m.: A woman who recently moved to North Carolina reported some of her belongings were stolen during the move.  Police are assisting in the investigation.

12:24 p.m.: A female juvenile was arrested for assault.  She was released to her parents.

7:52 p.m.: A residential alarm went off on Rose Drive.  Investigating officers couldn’t find anything wrong.

10:28 p.m.: A 31-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on Mills Drive for a weapons violation and a parole violation.

12:17 a.m.: After speaking with officers, the people playing loud music on Lindo turned the music down.

12:34 a.m.: Officers removed a dead deer from East Second Street.

2:00 a.m.: A 44-year-old man was arrested on Columbus on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

8:04 a.m.: Officers served a restraining order at an East N Street residence.

8:29 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Rose Drive.

8:39 a.m.: Officers investigated a car alarm activation in Solano Square.  The alarm had stopped sounding when officers arrived.

9:42 a.m.: A business alarm was activated on Sprig Street.  Investigating officers couldn’t’ find anything suspicious.

9:47 a.m.: A 27-year-old Vallejo woman was arrested on East B Street.  She had two outstanding warrants and was transported to the county jail in Fairfield.

9:50 a.m.: Officers tried, but were unable to locate the dog that was reported running loose on East Second Street.

10:12 a.m.: Police began in a investigation of a fraudulent check being written to a Benicia business.

11:07 a.m.: Officers couldn’t locate the skateboarders who were reported on Southampton Road.

12:08 p.m.: Police received a report of children running with scissors.  The kids appeared to be playing safely when officers arrived.

2:41 p.m.: A resident on Knight received fraudulent check.  Police began an investigation.

6:02 p.m.: Officers were able to contact the owner of an East Fifth Street residence who left the door open.

8:26 p.m.: Officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle on Poppy that sped off. 

9:52 p.m.: There was a residential alarm malfunction on O’Farell.

11:27 p.m.: Police cited a 24-year-old Benicia man for a suspected hit and run.

2:37 a.m.: An alarm at a business in Solano Square malfunctioned.

6:56 a.m.: There was a traffic collision on East Second Street.

7:04 a.m.: A 24-year-old Benicia man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after being involved in a traffic accident on Rose Drive.

9:20 a.m.: There was a family disturbance on East I Street.

10:04 a.m.: Officers gave a transient a ride to a shelter.

10:05 a.m.: There was anon-injury traffic accident on East Sixth Street.

10:41: Someone smashed the window of a car and stole an empty satchel.  The car was parked on West Tenth Street.  The empty satchel was located nearby.

11:15 a.m.: A stolen vehicle was discovered in the marsh next to the State Recreation Area parking lot at the end of West K Street.

1:03 p.m.: Officers referred a case of bushes encroaching on the street to Public Works.

2:24 p.m.: Officers talked to the person taking pictures of The Valero Refinery.  The person was on Bayshore Road.

2:41 p.m.: The owner of the unfamiliar vehicle parked on East G Street was waiting for a tow truck to come get the car.

2:44 p.m.: There was an accidental 911 call from a home on East I Street.

3:18 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Military East.

3:23 p.m.: This time officers were unable to find the person taking pictures of the refinery from East Second Street.

3:32 p.m.: A woman keeping an eye on a truck for her son believed there may have been parts stolen from the truck.

3:53 p.m.: Officers tried to contact a resident of Southampton Road who was receiving threatening phone calls.

4:09 p.m.: A business alarm activation on East Industrial was deemed a malfunction.

4:53 p.m.: There was another alarm activation on East Industrial and this too was deemed a malfunction.

5:05 p.m.: Assistance was given to someone trying to retrieve property from a Lindo Street residence.

5:20 p.m.: A dog showed up in a backyard on Carolina Street.  The dog didn’t belong to the homeowner but luckily officers who arrived on the scene were able to locate the dog’s person and returned the animal to its home.

9:14 p.m.: The injured possum on Varni was headed into the bushes when officers arrived.

9:20 p.m.: A car alarm kept going off on O’Farrell until officers arrived.

10:19 p.m.: A 21-year-old Vallejo ma was arrested on Cheryl Drive.  He was suspected of driving with a suspended license and of being in possession of a switchblade..

10:35 p.m.: Officers moved a dead cat out of the road on Military East.

11:47 p.m.: A business alarm malfunctioned on East Industrial Way.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
