Police Log: Drunk Drivers, Arguments and that Dog

1:30 a.m.: The disappearing barking dog was making noise on Mountview.

2:48 a.m.: There was a business alarm malfunction on Jackson.

7:04 a.m.: A bus stop on East H Street was vandalized.

8:53 a.m.: Officers received a report of someone sleeping in a bathroom on East K Street.  The person was gone when officers arrived.

9:04 a.m.: A residential alarm activation on Aspinwall was subscriber error.

10:54 a.m.: There was a robbery on Columbus Parkway.

11:18 a.m.: A home on Panorama was burglarized.

1:39 p.m.: The window of a residence on East J Street was vandalized.

1:59 p.m.: There was a report of a juvenile riding his bicycle in a dangerous manner on Southampton Road.

2:27 p.m.: Some juveniles who were loitering at a business on Military West were asked to leave.

2:53 p.m.: Officers received reports of juveniles being loud and unruly on Southampton Road.  The loud kids were gone when officers arrived.

6:10 p.m.: The suspicious person seen in Solano Square was gone when officers arrived.

6:11 p.m.: There was a parking violation reported on Anderson.  The offending car was gone when officers arrived.

6:14 p.m.: Police began an investigation into a commercial burglary on Southampton Road.

9:06 p.m.: Police received reports of a panhandler on West Second Street.

12:36 a.m.: A 32-year-old Benicia man was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by Solano County.  In the same incident police arrested a 24-year-old Benicia man for possession of a controlled substance and for a probation violation.

12.55 a.m.: Police were unable to find the people who were having a loud argument on First Street.

9:53 p.m.: A juvenile on McAlister was cited for providing marijuana to others.  The kid was released to the custody of his parents.

10:33 p.m.: Officers received reports of an intoxicated person wandering around the grounds of Benicia Middle School.  They were unable to find the person.

11:05 p.m.: A 21-year-old Benicia man was arrested for having an illegal knife and for being drink in public.

11:47 p.m.: A 68-year-old Benicia man was cited for driving while intoxicated.

12:35 a.m.: Police received reports that a group of juveniles on Larkin was acting in a strange manner.  Officers investigated but were unable to locate the kids.

12:40 a.m.: Someone heard gunshots on Carlisle.  Investigating officers did not hear any gunfire.

1:27 a.m.: A 22-year-old Fairfield man was cited for driving while intoxicated.  Officers stopped him on the southbound side of I-680.

4:43 a.m.: Those two kids who were spotted walking around on Seaview were detained and turned over to their parents.

5:22 a.m.: There was a verbal altercation on East Fourth Street.

8:11 a.m.: A car was stolen on El Bonito during the previous night.

11:05 a.m.: The suspicious vehicle on Park Road drove into the wrong business.

11:08 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into the theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle.

11:48 a.m.: Officers investigating a verbal altercation on West J Street found that there was no fight.

3:22 p.m.: Officers investigation a report of a verbal altercation on Southampton Road found the people who were arguing and managed to get them to be quiet.

7:39 p.m.: There were reports received of a possible drunk driver on Rose Drive.  It turned out the driver wasn’t drunk.

8:34 p.m.: The young woman who seemed out of control on Gray managed to get herself calmed down after officers arrived on the scene.

8:56 p.m.: There was a report of a drunk belligerent man at an apartment complex on Southampton Road.  Officers talked to the man and he agreed that going home would be best for all involved.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
