Police Log: Lots of Arguments but no Barking Dogs in Benicia This Weekend

Police responded to numerous calls of verbal altercations this weekend and they were able to diffuse the situations.

If you were in an argumentative mood, Benicia seems like the place to have been this weekend as police responded to many calls of people arguing loudly.  There was one arrest for suspected drunk driving. 

6:34 a.m.: The suspicious person gong through the garbage on Rankin was gone when officers arrived.

7:39 a.m.: A business alarm activation on East K Street was the fault of the business owner.

10:10 a.m.: A residential alarm activation on Shirley was an apparent malfunction.

12:42 p.m.: Officers separated two people in a loud argument on East Second Street.

3:28 p.m.: An alarm activation at a Military West business was possibly the result of a school event.

3:50 p.m.: Police began an investigation into an alleged assault on La Cruz.

4:54 p.m.: Police began an investigation into an alleged theft on Riconada.

5:11 p.m.: The suspicious person on East K Street wasn’t casing the neighborhood or the cars.   The person was lost.

8:33 p.m.: That guy running and falling in the middle of Military East had probably had a little too much to drink.  He agreed to go back into his hotel room for the rest of the night.

10:44: Police suspected there might have been underage drinking at a party on Snapdragon.  It turned out that wasn’t the case but the parents were called anyway.

10:47 a.m.: Police began an investigation into an alleged threatening phone call to a resident on Seaview.

2:20 a.m.: There was a loud verbal altercation between a mother and daughter on La Cruz.  After police intervened the daughter agreed to leave for the rest of the night.

2:34 a.m.: Police documented damage to a car on La Cruz.  The car was damaged when it was kicked.

4:19 p.m.: The skateboarders on Southampton Road were gone when officers arrived.

4:49 p.m.: Officers contacted the owner of a suspicious vehicle on Southampton Road.

4:50 p.m.: A resident of Seaview heard a possible prowler.  Officers looked but couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

5:00 p.m.: Someone vandalized the front door of a house on East T Street.

5:50 p.m.: A residential alarm went off on West 14th Street.  No one seems to know why the alarm went off.

7:30 p.m.: There were reports of someone throwing rocks on East H Street.  Officers were unable to locate the rock thrower.

9:46 p.m.: Those noisy people on Southampton Road were asked by officers to be quieter.  They agreed to try.

10:21 p.m.: There was a family disturbance on Regis.  Officers intervened and spoke to all parties involved.

10:52: There was a verbal disturbance on Military East.  Once again officers were able to convince the participants to calm down.

12:18 a.m.: Officers cited a 21-year-old Benicia man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on West Second Street.

9:50 a.m.: Officers helped the owner of an apartment on East Third Street who wanted the people who weren’t on the lease to leave. 

11:09 a.m.: The unruly kid in a house on Capitol was given a stern warning by officers.

11:57 a.m.: The alarm activation on East Industrial appeared to be a malfunction.

6:24 p.m.: There was a report of a fight between some juveniles on East J Street.  When officers arrived they couldn’t find any fights but one person in the area said there had been a loud argument.

9:35 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on First Street.

11:05 p.m.:  A resident of Chadwick failed to turn off the alarm in time.

11:39 p.m.: A business alarm was activated on East Channel Road.  There appeared to be nothing wrong when officers arrived to investigate.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
