Police Log: Monday, October 10, 2011

There were no arrests on Monday.

Officers were able to help one business stay secure, but were only able to begin an investigation into a burglary at another.

2:40 a.m.: An officer on routine patrol found the door to a First Street business open.   Leaving the door open was an oversight.  The officer secured the business.

4:21 a.m.: Police began an investigation into the burglary of a business on Southampton Road.

6:41 p.m.: There was an alarm malfunction at a business on Bayshore Road in the Benicia Industrial Park.

7:44 p.m.: Police began an investigation into a theft on East H Street.

8:32 p.m.: A Southampton Road business reported they had a customer who refused to leave.  The unwanted guest exited once police educated him on trespassing laws.

8:43 p.m.: The youngster dressed in black and playing chicken with passing cars on Southampton Road had left before officers could talk to him.

11:10 p.m.: Police stopped to talk to a man lying down next to his bicycle on Military East.  The man was resting and informed officers he would be completing his homeward journey shortly.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
