Police Log: Monday, September 19, 2011

With gas creeping back toward $4 a gallon some enterprising bad guys have a new spin on an old crime.

The early morning and late night hours were slow for Benicia Police on Monday. The middle of the day, though, was full of arrests. All of those arrested are suspected of some manner of drug crime.

8:05 a.m.: The day got started with a malfunctioning residential alarm on Robinson.

3:06 p.m.: In a spinoff of the old Dine-n-Dash, a suspect did a Fill-n-Flee on Goodyear Road. The police log doesn’t say how much gas was stolen.

4:39 p.m.: A Vallejo man was arrested on East Fifth Street on suspicion of a whole slew of bad things related to firearms and methamphetamine.

6:18 p.m.: Two Benicia men were arrested on Via Media.  They were suspected of being in possession of methamphetamine, being in possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

8:45 p.m.: A man reported another man punched him. He didn’t want to press charges.

9:32 p.m.: A woman on East Fourth reported her car was vandalized.  An officer responding to the call figured out the real issue was one of custody of the car. They managed to get the warring parties to separate for the rest of the night.

Editor’s Note: Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
